Handwoven wool blanket – these expertly woven merino wool blankets are made by tribes from the Thar desert in Rajasthan, India. They come from an age old practice where they were woven on traditional Indian spinning wheels, called charkhas. Hence, each piece involves a number of days worth of expertise and manual labour. This type of textile is a type of khadi—a handspun, handwoven cloth made from natural fibres. Originally woven for personal use, they were mainly worn by men as shawls.
