Our beautiful handmade indigo quilts are block printed and hand-stitched by textile artisans in India. They are reversible with the print on one side and a plain layer on the other which showcases the the kantha stitching. Kantha is a prominent form of embroidery consisting of running stitches and is often practiced by rural women in east Asia, especially in India and Bangladesh. The textile art of woodblock printing is the process of printing patterns on textiles. These are usually done on linen, cotton or silk by means of incised wooden blocks. It is the earliest, simplest and slowest of all methods of textile printing. While block printing by hand is a slow process, it is capable of yielding highly artistic results.
This is a handmade product dyed with indigo, a natural dye, so it may have slight irregularities. However, these only add to its unique character. The size is 225 x 275cm, so it is large enough to fit a double, queen or king size bed.
